REACHING HIGHER HEIGHTS



CARE CENTER  4-LIFE

Family Missionary Baptist Church continues to operate  a successful whole-listic Institution which main goal is  rebuilding and restoring lives. Using the Twelve Tribal Connection with the 12 essentials of Elevation (enlightenment, education, employment, engagement, empowerment, encouragement, endowment, enterprise, enfranchisement, environment, endorsement and enforcement ). Strengthening the traditional God given family structure through the fivefold concept of Reaching, Rearing, Reverencing, Recreation and Role Playing Efforts. Serving Young people and their Families in the Greater Columbus Urban Communities. Focusing primarily in the 43205, 43206, 43207 zip codes.  Partnering with Columbus Public Schools in those zip codes.  Our outreach and engagements:

 

    1. Summer Institute 6-8 weeks of re-enforce school learning to prevent the summer
      slide/ healthy eating/ educate about the harmful effects of drugs/alcohol and guns to create
      safe environments.
    2. Summer Youth Employment through partner with agencies
    3. Community Service Site: Community Service Hours for School and other Agencies
    4. Year Round  Mentoring 1 hour Boyz2Men Reading (Men of Standard) and Drumming and
      Step Teams
    5. Year Round Garden Club/Homework Hero’s (healthy Learning)
    6. Peer2Peer Parenting Classes (to help the parent learn parenting skills
    7. Annual Youth Sabbatical youth enjoy a week long excursion of getaway grooming.
    8. Annual “Treat n Trunk” a community event that a safety supplement  for Trick/Treat
    9. Annual Night w/Christ… A Night highlighting the first week of bootcamp presentation
    10. Annual Community Festival: Fun filled day of Free community food, fun, game prizes
      and information event
    11. Community Christmas Musical and Gift Exchange
    12. Monthly Ministry4 Movement March: Chat n Chews, Family Nights.

 

With a record of serving 100– 300 youth and their families annually.  Many in these target area are low income, and under educated. While other agencies may serve youths, we are the only whole-listic institution that is based in the area where the problem youth are making our efforts more hand on and accessible.

 

    1. Summer Institute
  • This  6-8 weeks of re-enforce school learning  in math, reading, writing and history
    to prevent the summer slide.
  • We serve/ healthy breakfast and lunch to promote healthy eating.
  • We also  educate about the harmful effects of drugs/alcohol and guns to create
    safe environments.
  • Youth Learn the Critical think process through the game of chess
  • Attention Deficiency through the process of standing on square.
  • Performing Arts of Dancing and Drumming.

 

    1. Summer Youth Employment through partner with agencies
  • We partner with agencies like Urban League, NCUS to provide summer employment
    in the Summer Camp helping to mentor the younger children.
  • Also learning business application

 

    1. Community Service Site:

§  Youth Sign up or Court Ordered Community Service

§  Hours for School and other Agencies 1-5 hour per day 

 

    1. Year Round  Mentoring
      •  Boyz2Men Reading (Men of Standard) and Drumming and Step Teams
      • Girls 2 Matrons (Dancing and Learning)

 

    1. Year Round Garden Club/Homework Hero’s (healthy Learning)

Ø  Youth learn the advantages of growing, harvesting, cooking and marketing your
     own fruits and vegetables

 

    1. Peer2Peer Parenting Classes (to help the parent learn parenting skills
      • 3 hours per week using the 5 protective factors, facilitating among their peers to
        empower each other.
    1. Annual Youth Sabbatical youth enjoy a week long excursion of getaway grooming.
      • 12-24 Youth are taken in a gender specific remote area out of immediate environment
        to learn  restructuring and discipline. 
    1. Annual “Treat n Trunk” a community event that a safety supplement  for Trick/Treat

 

 

    1. Annual Night w/Christ… A Night highlighting the first week of bootcamp presentation,
      where youth highlight and make presentation to their parents.

 

    1. Annual Community Festival: Fun filled day of Free community food, fun, game prizes
      and informational and civic events

 

    1. Community Christmas Musical and Gift Exchange. This is where we highlight the real meaning
      of Christmas in a Musical Performance and  we close out with a gift exchange.

 

 

    1. Monthly Ministries 4 Movement Marches/ Chat n Chews & Family Nights. These sit down
      and speakers forums are designed to keep the Church and Community Connected and informed
      for the purpose of strengthening families in the areas of Resources, Relationship, Recreation
      and Redemption.

 

We keep record of the Youth through their school report card  status the parents on their signing and going through all 5 stages of the 5 protective factors.
